Describe the most memorable meal you've ever had

I had an amazing meal while visiting Amsterdam a couple of years ago... It was 3 courses, and started with the best French Onion soup I have ever had to this day. It had a slight bit of cinnamon in it, I believe, that balanced the soup out/spicy and savory. Next came an order of mussels in a white wine and saffron sauce ~ slightly creamy and absolutely yummy! This was all complimented by a fabulous glass of sauvigan blanc. Next came a simple, but delicious, bowl of pistachio gelato. The gelato was creamy but light and a perfect way to close the meal.

What is your cooking level? Beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional, etc... and which type of cuisine is your specialty?

Intermediate.... I would say cooking seafood is my speciality.

Please tell the group a little bit about your interest in food and cooking

My favorite weekend radio show is Good Food on KCRW. I love hearing about the cook book reviews, getting new recipes, and hearing what's good at the local farmer's markets. I am very experimental in my cooking and have tried everything from vegetarian indian dishes to handmade gyoza to vegan artichoke soup. I have been known to return from the farmer's market with vegetables and fruits that I have never seen before for dinner/dessert. I am also very health conscious and prefer to prepare meals that are low in fat. I also always try to use fresh, organic produce in my cooking. I am forever on the lookout for healthy, quick meals to prepare during the week. I love the Real Simple magazine (recipe section) for this... I look forward to sharing knowledge and recipes with you all!
