Petersen Automotive Museum *Vault Tour!*

Our first winter break event!! The Petersen is allowing the public to come and view the cars in its famous vault! This is the first time this has happened and should be well worth the money.

We will meet at 12:00 at the entrance to the museum to buy our tickets for the tours. We will split up into two groups. Group A (10 people) will go down and see the vault at 12:30 while Group B tours the museums normal exhibits. When the first tour ends, we will switch and Group B will go to the vault at 2:00.

More than 20 LA F1 fans can come to the event with us, but we only have 20 slots reserved and only 10 will be able to go in to the vault at each time.

Admission to the Petersen costs $12, vault tours cost an additional $25. That's a total cost of $37 per person.

After we finish up at the museum (around 2:30-2:45 I'm guessing) we will go to The Varsity (6311 Wilshire Blvd, a 7 minute walk away) for drinks. People who can't make the tour can meet up for a pint or two after.

See you there!!

Thanks, Mark! It was great to meet everyone and the Vault tour was fantastic. Looking forward to March.

Had a really great time with everyone, and it was great seeing all the incredible cars on display. Though seeing everyone is making the wait for the next F1 season that much tougher. Can't wait for March!

As a first-timer, didn't quite know what to expect. Exhibits were good and the Vault tour was amazing. Tour guide's knowledge and stories were very entertaining. Incredible how much knowledge he had about every vehicle. Saddam Hussein, Phyllis Diller, and Lindsay Lohan represented in house too. Yup, fact. Thanks Mark! Another EPIC event!

The Varsity just closed. We relocated to Tom Bergins just down the road.

at first I thought it was a neato midnight thing!.. but once
you started talking about 2:30 at the Varsity I figured
    you meant noon. :0)
either that or you guys were all intending on partying...
    REAL hard.

I didn't know how late the Varsity is open, but for some reason a midnight showing at the Petersen seemed like a cool idea...... It would work either way perhaps!

Just so everyone is clear. It seems this meetup was scheduled for midnight, not noon like it was supposed to have been. See you all there!

For those of us considering joining you at The Varsity, would it be easiest to park at the Petersen and walk with everyone? It doesn't look like there's any parking near the pub.

(Yes, I'm well aware of the parking fees at the Petersen. But it's also a safe place to park the Bee, and the gift shop validates.)

Ack. Hit "enter" too early. Figure for the sake of finding/staying with the group, it's probably easiest to park at the museum and meet everyone in the lobby or wherever.

OK. Once the second group's tour ends, we will go to The Varsity, so anyone who doesn't see us at the Petersen is free to meet us there.

Do you know if kids are the same price?

    January 2, 2013

    • Mark S.

Jeff, The vault tour requires attendees to be over 13 years old. Sorry about that.

no worries, I will bring a friend who will love it!

Mark -- I met the museum director today. He said you should contact the museum, given how many people you have going. It was pretty busy there today!

I called and reserved two tours. Is there anyone else I should talk to?

      December 23, 2012

    • Mara

I didn't know whether you'd reserved the spaces. That's all you need to do.

My first activity with this group, and I was hoping for an opportunity to see the Peterson vault while it's open. Can't wait!

Already have spots reserved for tomorrow's Vault tour, and my membership expires at the end of the month. If I can, I'll try to join for lunch/beer afterward, though!
