Celebrate Los Angeles Heritage Day

Hello Everyone,

On Sunday, April 29, from 11am - 4:00pm, a number of local historical organizations and preservation groups from throughout Los Angeles will gather inside the historic Pico House (opened in 1870 as the grandest hotel in Los Angeles!) to celebrate LA Heritage Day, showcasing L.A.'s rich and diverse history. This an event you don't want to miss! The entrance is free, as well a number of local tours & museums in the Olvera Street area for that day. There is even a scavenger hunt.

Click on the link below and scroll down to see the list of all the history groups that will be there with a table-setup providing lot's of information about their organization. You may even want to join and volunteer with a few groups!

This is not a hosted meetup, thus there is no specific time or place to meet. But it would be great if you would RSVP if you plan on going, so others can see who's going, and maybe look for each other and say hello.

Have a great time!

Fabulous event with lots of organization represented. Best of all, I got to visit the Avila Adobe for the first time.

IT WAS lots of good materials. We should all wear red ca
rnations, though, so we can tell the historians from the hoi polloi.

The Pico House is convenient for Public Transportation ! From Pasadena, take the Gold Line. From West LA, take the Green Line. From Mid-Wilshire, take the Purple Line. From North Hollywood, Studio City and Hollywood, take the Red Line.

Pico House is located between Union Station and the US District Courthouse. If you arrive using Main Street, there are three public parking lots in the block across the street from it. On weekends, they would cost $9 for the day. If you are willing to hoof it, you can cross Cesar Chavez and edge into Chinatown where there are many parking lots running $5 and up.

I am not able to attend - but wanted to give you all a "heads up" that Fiesta Broadway is happening downtown tomorrow too. They are expecting over 300,000 people - so you might want to take Metro and bring your patience.
