Over the past 3 years, Luiz has worked on video recording, transcoding, and sending through the Messenger selfie cam, as well as the Messenger Content Platform announced at F8 this year. Luiz will talk about Android performance tricks and best practices the team learned along the way to being one of the most popular apps in the Play Store. SANDERS CHONG FACEBOOK MEDIA: VIDEOS ON ANDROID Sanders is a Software Engineer on the Facebook Media team. Recent projects include auto-playing video in Newsfeed, Messenger video, and video transcoding. He is generally interested in anything media related and enjoys technical discussions about video or graphics. In recent months, there has been a significant shift in video viewing habits (from TV to online), and Facebook has become one of the major platforms for people to discover, watch, and share video. This talk will focus on the technologies needed to power video on Android and lessons learned while optimizing video performance at scale.

Exit the parking structure at the NE corner - McClintock Ave. and 36th Place. Proceed north on McClintock (away from the structure). Make a right at Childs Way, which is the path before the track stadium. When you get to the end of the track stadium, you will see Wallis Annenberg Hall (not our building) ahead and to the right on Watt Way. Make a left on Watt Way, with the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (ASC) just ahead and to the right.
