    Hmmm... There's a high club to sword ratio here. I wonder what motivates different groups to choose one over the other.

    I think it depends on the rules set. In our rules those are basically all swords, but at the same time, a sword and a club are basically the same thing, except possibly for appearance.

    Well, you can't throw a flat with a tube.

    That would be when you throw a shot that strikes with a non-cutting edge of a sword., usually called the flat of the blade.

    Some rule-sets require you hit with certain abilities with the flat of the blade. I.e. a mace may get a "stun" critical strike normally, but to do it with a short sword you are required to hit with the flat of the blade.

    Also every system I've been involved with (Bel, Dag, Lanerea, and Hexemeister) require a sword to land blade first to deliver a wounding, or killing, strike.

    Well I know Bel and Dag both allow omniblades, which is essentially what those are. If you use a flat blade, then yeah you have to hit with the striking edge.
