I bought the following:

What kind of potientometer should I get?

A linear 10k ohm rotary potentiometer is a useful, generic pot to have and interfaces easily with an Uno. Here is a breadboard friendly version:
or you can solder some jumper wires to a standard configuration.

If you are short any parts at the class, I will be there and bring my magic box of goods.
1K, 10K Pot, Breadboard Wires, Resistors, LEDs.
I will also have a few kits available. If you know you want a kit or anything else special please email me or you can order on the website: http://hacker.instane...
When ordering pick "Store Pickup" and "COD", I will bring your order to the next Meetup and there is no shipping and a club discount price. I also donate 5% of the total sales to the club.
