A revision for this meetup. Originally, I'd planned to walk all over town (kind of like my mind is stronger than my body actually is type thing). Well, due to the fact that I can only walk for a short distances on flat surfaces, this is the route I've planned from W. 5th (meeting at Pershing Sq. to just past W. 1st at Grand Park). Along the way there is Pershing Square Park - http://www.laparks.org/pershingsquare/index.html#location (at the meetup point with parking beneath the park), Grand Central Market - http://www.grandcentralmarket.com/visit, Angel's Flight - http://angelsflight.org/, mural in "The Living Rock" at Civic Center Red Line Station - https://plus.google.com/112910415304341353611/about?gl=us&hl=en and this route cuts through LA's Civic Center, so there are the court & other buildings.
The meetup will last from around 11:45 am (note the change of time) to approximately 2:45 pm. If anyone wants to leave earlier or stay later, that's fine. We will wait at Pershing Square Red Line Station for about a 1/2 hour. We will meet on the corner of S. Hill St and W. 5th St by the stairs at the entrance to Pershing Square Park. I may or may not have my purple backpack. But, a few of you know me , and I'm quite recognizable by my photo on the LA Street Photography site.
Thank you to Larry Abellera for his suggestion to make it a shorter walk than I originally planned, due to my disabilities.
For those who are driving, parking at Union Station and taking the RedLine to Pershing Square (a day pass is $5) might be more convenient. I don't know how much parking costs downtown, but from what I've seen it's not cheap. Here's the link for public transportation information - www.metro.net and the cost of getting around by bus/train. I don't know how much it is, but you can also park at the GoldLine Sierra Madre Villa Station in Pasadena, depending on which direction your coming from. The phone number to call for metro information is 1-323-GO-METRO or you can get metro info on metro.net.
