Please join us at our July meeting as we welcome our speaker, BILL GATES, Treasurer of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club. Bill has been active with the “Citizens Opposed to Overhead Power lines” (COOP) and his presentation will be made on behalf of COOP.
The group is opposing the Salt River Project (SRP) proposal for high-voltage overhead power lines through residential areas, including Sun Lakes. Bill will tell us about how the process works and what Sun Lakers can do about it. A recent SRP decision eliminated Riggs Road as a possible route. This leaves Hunt Highway as one of only two east-west routes under consideration. If the power line goes along Hunt Highway, it will go up Old Price Road. “This means Sun Lakes is still vulnerable on three sides,” Bill said.
There will be ample time for questions and discussion. This will undoubtedly be an exciting and informative discussion, one that no one should miss.
Please bring non-perishable food items to the club meetings for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
