Are you like me, lots of friends who cannot get away for a weekend or week's vacation? Would you prefer to find people with whom to travel with than go alone?
This group was originally established to facilitate communication so that people can find travel partners. Indeed, members are still welcome to do this. At the same time, single and multi-day outdoor events will be organized here for those who want to get away. This does not preclude simply meeting for dinner to talk!
There is no specific age range, though we would hope you to be over 18, and 21 for more adult activities.
Your travels are limited only by your imagination and common sense. Singles are fine. Partnered folks are welcome. Members are welcome to travel as a group.
Does traveling together constitute a date? I don't know. Will you be holding hands?
If you would like to find someone to travel with, for safety, for companionship, for fun, and to save money, please post a discussion here indicating:
--What trip you have in mind, and --A description of yourself (I.e. Gay, Lesbian, transgender; age group,smoker/nonsmoker, mobility restrictions, budget, etc.)
Then let the magic happen.
We'll establish a few ground rules as we go:
--please assume, unless you make other arrangements, that trip expenses will be borne by individual participants. It just makes the whole "Who gets the bad news" thing moot.
--If you don't RSVP to an event, please don't just show up! It might be cancelled if nobody RSVPs.
--we all promise to be on out best behavior, right. If anyone has an issue with someone's behavior, please let me know, OK?
Please Note: This group, for the time being, will be limited to under 50 members. New member requests will supplant those who have been least active.
Membership requires approval. (It's kind of to help protect you from wolves.) You must have a face picture in your profile (I will look into ways of making your profile here visible only to other members.) Members who do not put a face picture in their group profile will be left behind. (How can we count you if we can't SEE you?)
There will be no membership dues, per se. For now, members are invited to voluntarily contribute a $5 a year donation to help offset membership fees imposed by the Meetup zoomies. The organizer makes no money from these events. You can make a contribution at the carpool point at the start of an event. I also recogmnize raw salmon as legal tender.
