****************************** PLEASE NOTE ******************************
We wanted to let you know that we’re changing the location of our Sat., Sept. 22nd LI-DOG Pack WalkTM to Southards Pond Park in Babylon from Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve in Deer Park. When we did our pre-walk at the Preserve this past weekend, we found that the hiking trails were too narrow for a group walk. We hope to get back to the preserve there and see if we can find some wider trails, but for this month, we’re going to go back to Southards Pond Park. This time, we’ll be walking most of the Southards Pond Loop Trail—a broad, flat trail that can accommodate a group walk—and that will have nice views of Southards Pond. The time to start our Pack WalkTM stays the same at 10 a.m. Get all the details on our Meetup and Facebook groups and our website. We hope you can join us!

Please join LI-DOG for our first-ever Pack Walk™ at the Edgewood-Oak Brush Plains Preserve in Deer Park! Edgewood-Oak Brush Plains is a state-owned, 843-acre nature preserve situated within the towns of Babylon, Huntington and Islip. It was the site of the former Edgewood State Hospital.

The trails and paths in the preserve are ideal for hiking, biking, jogging, birding and, of course, dog walking! Old Commack Road, a paved 1.6- mile road that runs north-south and is now part of the preserve’s trail network is great for jogging and biking, especially for families with children. There are also many nice flat, pine needle-covered trails that are great for dog walking.

Because parking at the preserve is limited, we have to limit this pack-walk to 40 people.

Our LI-DOG Pack Walk™ —a guided group on-leash dog walk--will start at the gazebo near the parking lot. At the beginning and at the end of our walk we will be following a trail that runs in front of a model airplane flying field. Please be mindful of the planes. We will post the trail we will be walking nearer to the date of our actual walk.

Weather-Related Changes: Please check our Meetup and/or Facebook Group or our website on Sat. morning around 8:30 a.m. for any weather-related notices. If there is no notice, the Pack Walk is on! We look forward to seeing you and your dogs for our first-ever LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at Edgewood-Oak Brush Plains Preserve!
