  • Look for instructor Peter in the parking area at the Ayer trailhead
  • Please arrive by 8:45am for a quick bike maintenance/safety check.  We plan to ride from 9am-Noon and we will take breaks to rest.  We hope to pedal at roughly 12 miles per hours but we will stay together as a group.  No one left behind!

We will cover approximately 25 miles of the beautiful Nashua River Rail Trail. The Nashua River Rail Trail travels along a varied landscape, offers numerous scenic overlooks, opportunities to see wildlife and has several resting stops. The Ayer trailhead offers access to commuter rail service between Boston and Fitchburg.

Ages 13 years and older are welcome.  Please come with an appropriate bicycle for traveling on paved surfaces for roughly 25 miles.  Bike helmets must be worn by all participants.  Please bring plenty of water, appropriate layers and a spare tube if possible.

Hope to see you on this amazing Rail Trail!  Any questions, please call the L.L.Bean Burlington retail store at[masked]

Hey all. We are hoping the heavy rain holds off until later. We are closely watching the forecast and if heavy rain is expected during the ride, we may need to cancel. We are very excited about this ride so if cancelled, we will reschedule

So I'm confirming that my commuter bike is the choice for this ride vs. my mountain bike.

Yes, your commuter bike would be the right choice. Look forward to seeing you on the trail!

Just an FYI: There is an overall 10+ degree uphill slope from Nashua Trailhead to the Ayer Trailhead. IF one starts in Nashua, then you peddle (Overall) uphill on first leg, and then downhill upon return. Otherwise, starting in Ayer is reversed. Downhill (overall) start and uphill return.
