FRIDAY NIGHT LATE AT THE BANK of ENGLAND MUSEUM - FREE ENTRY 16.05.14.

  • May 16, 2014 · 5:45 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let us take advantage of a rare opportunity for an evening visit to the BANK of ENGLAND MUSEUM - FREE ENTRY (late night opening) followed by drinks afterwards.

The Bank of England, Threadneedle Street

As well as all the usual displays, there will be presentations on banknotes in the Museum. and Bank staff will be on hand to answer questions about gold, money and the history of the Bank and the Museum etc. Open until late (9:00pm).

Learn about the Bank from its earliest days to its current role - setting rates to keep inflation low, issuing banknotes and working with others to keep the financial system stable.

Lift a genuine gold bar

Use our interactive and audio-visual displays.

The Monetary Policy Balloon lets you set interest rates to control inflation.

Examine banknotes, the intricacies of their design and their security features.

Take our audio tour
for a fascinating insight into the Bank of yesterday and today.

See Sir John Soane’s 1793 Bank Stock Office, a modern reconstruction on the original site of the first major work for the Bank by the renowned Georgian architect.

Lift a genuine gold bar*, one of several on display.

The Museum shop, offers a range of gifts to suit all budgets.

We will head off to a bar for a drink afterwards (from about 7.15pm onwards).

There is a second event at Jamies Creechurch Lane (10 minutes walk away from the Bank of England) for those members who want to enjoy a Friday Night Drink afterwards. I have also organised some free nibbles at the drinks event. You can arrive anytime at Jamiesafter you have finished at the Bank of England museum.

A fantastic venue for a fantastic large crowd of over 150 fans! Well done to Ken to organise big events which can accommodate so many people. I enjoyed the museum with mythili tonight and all the other people I met during its visit.

Very interesting exhibition. Valerie and I had a great tour and spent perhaps, longer than most. Nice seeing you Gussie and the others, Ken I just managed to catch a glimpse of you among the teeming meetupers (to coin a word) in keeping with the museum we visited.
Gosh! I had been to see the exhibition years ago, lots of new exhibits and what nostalgia seeing the coins we used to buy sweets with when at school!

Good idea Ken, a great thumbs up!

I hope that you will be pleased to learn that we do allow photography in the Museum as long as no flashes are used. We also ask that, for security reasons, no photos are taken of the gold bar in its touch case.
