This is a strenuous, but not dangerous trail hike. Elevation is 11,056 making it the 3rd highest peak in Southern NV. Please look at the attached pictures from previous Griffith Peak Hikes. I've done this hike about 5 or 6 times.

We will all be hiking together as a group and will be hiking at a medium speed. Only reasonably strong hikers should consider signing up.

We will hike up the switchbacks of the South Loop Trail for about 4 miles until we reach the ridge line. From there we will make a left turn and head up to Griffith Peak, 11,056 elevation, for some spectacular views. If you plan on doing Mount Charleston, this hike is a great barometer to see where you are at.

On a scale of 1-5, where 1 is the easiest, this hike has a difficulty level of 3 for recreational hikers like me and you! This rating is due to the elevation gain and distance. With a lunch stop on the peak, plan on a gorgeous 5-6 hour TRAIL HIKE with NO SCRAMBLING involved. The distance is about 9-1/2 miles to the top and back. Going at a steady pace with a few quick stops, It should take us just under 3 hours to reach the peak. Returning to civilization is all downhill. The elevation gain is 3,470 feet and the trail is fairly easy to follow.

This is a great hike that I've done several times before. If it makes you feel better: If I can make it, so can you! I'm assuming good weather, but just in case, be prepared for whatever nature throws our way!

I'm look forward to hiking with you. All my hikes are fun and this will be no exception. This is one of my favorite hikes. When we get close to the peak, there is a SHORT but steep trail to the top, it's truly amazing!
