Meghalaya: the abode of clouds
Meghalaya: Separating the Assam valley from the plains of Bangladesh, hilly Meghalaya – the ‘abode of clouds’ – is a cool, pine-fresh mountain state set on dramatic horseshoes of rocky cliffs. Cherrapunjee and Mawsynram are statistically among the wettest places on Earth; creating very impressive waterfalls and carving out some of Asia’s longest caves. Itinerary: (tentative) Day 1: ● Land in Guwahati. Guwahati to Shillong drive ● Umiam lake ● Shillong city exploration Day 2: ● Head straight to Laitlum and visit the Grand Canyons. ● Head to Mawphlang and visit the sacred groove. Sacred groove is a forest that has been preserved by traditional religious sanction, since the ancient days. ● Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak. Day 3: ● Head to Dawki, where you can visit the Indo-Bangladesh border. Also, enjoy boating in the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River ● Head to Mawlynnong Village, which is awarded as the cleanest village in Asia. Also, pay a visit to the magnificent living root bridge Day 4: ● Cherrapunji & Trek to Nongrait ●Visit the Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Eco Park, Mawsmai Cave ●Trek to the double decker living Root bridge & Rainbow Falls Day 5: ● Visit Don Bosco Church ,Ward's Lake and Local street market ● Pack your bags and head back to Guwahati with loads of memories. Bid adieu to Meghalaya. ● Reach Guwahati by 5 PM in the evening and reach airport according to your flight. Reach Bangalore.
