Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls - David Sedaris

Hello Thoughtful Readers,

We will be reading Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, by David Sedaris for our July Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 7pm.

Please send book suggestions for the August meeting by July 12.  Our book selection process is as follows:

Members e-mail book suggestions to me by July 12. I then send out 3 choices with summaries to all Ladies of the Book Club members.  Those present at the meeting vote for the next book from these choices.  We meet on Tuesdays either 4 or 5 weeks from the previous meeting. Hope to see you here in July!

We will meet at my home a 1/2 block away from the Castro Muni Station. Monday, July 15 I will e-mail the address to those who have RSVPed Yes by the time the RSVP list closes on Monday July 15.

Book Description (Amazon):

A guy walks into a bar car and...

From here the story could take many turns. When this guy is David Sedaris, the possibilities are endless, but the result is always the same: he will both delight you with twists of humor and intelligence and leave you deeply moved.

Sedaris remembers his father's dinnertime attire (shirtsleeves and underpants), his first colonoscopy (remarkably pleasant), and the time he considered buying the skeleton of a murdered Pygmy.

WithLet's Explore Diabetes with Owls, David Sedaris shows once again why his work has been called "hilarious, elegant, and surprisingly moving" (Washington Post).
