Ladies Who Lunch believe in quality, not quantity and, therefore, limit membership to under 50 members.
Unlike other meet-ups, we restrict our membership in order for everyone to participate on a regular basis. We are a wonderfully supportive group for women who live in the South Bay area who want to make lasting friendships with others in their neighborhoods. You'd be surprised how much fun a lunch can be! Our average age is about 55, with a few in their thirties and others in their sixties. We are a mixed bunch - but definitely a group more suited for those over 30. Our members make up an incredibly dedicated and involved group of interesting, intelligent, positive and fun-loving women. We do not advocate unpleasant drama or cliquishness.
We meet only on weekdays, once a week - in the South Bay - usually from El Segundo on the north to Torrance on the south - at a diverse mix of restaurants. Our emphasis is on friendship, not food; consequently, we are looking for women who can commit to lunches and actively participate. If you have a hectic schedule and a lot of priorities, this group may not be for you. You should be a good conversationalist/listener. We also host monthly potlucks (if possible) at members' homes, which have been great successes.
The lunches have recently been reduced to a maximum of 14-16 members in order to avoid long wait times for service and in order for us to be able to converse easily. You will pay only for what you eat plus tax and tip. Feel free to suggest your favorite restaurant in the South Bay (suitable for a group reservation) and we will do our best to incorporate it. Your organizer works hard to bring you memorable dining or social experiences. We ask that you do your best to attend events that you sign up for and to update/change your RSVP promptly. It is disappointing to plan an event, have people sign up, and then only have a few attend. Because of this, our group will have a three-strike policy for no-shows and non-participation over a two month period. If you get to three strikes, membership with this group will end. A cancellation within four hours of an event counts as a no-show. Hope you understand.
The group is often closed to new members so all of our ladies can participate on a regular basis. If membership is closed when you visit the site and you're interested in becoming a future member, you can contact us (see the left side of this web page) with your answers to the profile questions and we'll consider you when an opening occurs. If we're open to members when you visit the site, please complete the profile questionnaire and submit it to us. YOU MUST UPLOAD A CURRENT PHOTOGRAPH OF YOURSELF. You must also live in the South Bay.
