This group is for those interested in gaining the knowledge and experience to photograph weddings. Perhaps you have shot soccer, or cycling, landscapes, babies, or maternity, but never had the chance to shoot weddings. Or maybe you have photographed a couple of weddings for friends of friends, and want to become qualified to do it professionally. We are going to start with four Saturday morning meetings in April from 9 a.m. to noon. (April 7, 14, 21, 28 at a wedding venue in Lafayette) Attendance at each of the first four meetings is important. After that, those qualified, will be invited to photograph a wedding as an extra shooter in the summer, and use the samples for their portfolio. Those minimums qualifications are based on shooting experience, attendance at meetings, and having a decent DSLR with lenses. This is not a basic photography class, or for total beginners. You would want to have some significant shooting under your belt. We will be covering the basics of editing in Lightroom. After we do an engagement photo session the second week, you will edit your shots to share with others on the third Saturday. Having some exposure to Lightroom or something similar is helpful. This should be great for camaraderie, and brain storming on shooting, lighting and editing techniques. The meetup is organized by a professional wedding photographer who also some times hires additional freelance weekend photographers. RSVP with experience and list of camera gear to make sure this is a good group for you.
