• Singles Speak Discussion: Confidence

    Whole Foods Market

Let's meet on the 2nd Floor of the Whole Foods Market cafe in Glendale to talk, eat, drink coffee/juice and have an interesting conversation. This will be a great opportunity to share, listen and socialize in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They have a great buffet area if you want breakfast and a coffee/juice bar. Note: This event is posted on multiple meetup groups. If you sign up please show up or be courteous and change your RSVP far enough in advance (At least 3 hours) so people on the waitlist can attend. Stairs are at the northeast corner at the very front of the store. The elevator to the 2nd floor is on the west side of the store under the “Cream of the Crop” sign. Exit the elevator at Level 2 and take a left, then a right at The Wellness Center sign and you will see the tables. We can split into smaller discussion groups if the turnout is large. Topics to be covered: What does it mean to be confident? How do you create more confidence in your life? What is the source of your confidence? A popular quote says: “Confidence is silent, insecurity is loud.” Do you agree? Why or why not? Is it important to you that people accept your point of view? What are some characteristics of someone who is confident? At what times do you feel less confident? When do you feel most confident? When does confidence become arrogance? If you could do one thing to increase your confidence, what would it be? What’s one thing you could let go of to help raise your confidence? What activities cause you to feel most alive? Do you feel that you are mostly owning your life, or that your life is owning you? What helps you remain grounded and connected to yourself? Do you have a strong sense of who you are? What role do others (friends, family, colleagues, partners) play in your confidence?

  • Discussion Group: Relationships

    Christ the Servant Lutheran

    $10.00

Relationships - we love them, we hate them, and sometimes we're not sure how to navigate them. We all have relationships, whether it's with ourselves, a romantic partner, at work, or the family. Let's celebrate our relationships deeply, support each other with the challenges, and start to envision and create the relationships we long for. This discussion group will be facilitated, with the intention of creating a confidential, welcoming space for everyone, in which we feel free to open up, share, have a sense of humor, and learn and grow. We'll hold the intention to share the talk time, speak from the heart and our own experiences, and be present with each other, offering empathetic listening, and insight into new perspectives. We'll refrain from offering intellectual analysis of what others say, 'fixing', or giving unsolicited advice. We trust that each person will get what they need. As a trained communication expert, Beth may invite people to connect more deeply with themselves or empathize with the person in the relationship they want to address; however everyone is free to open up at the level they're comfortable. Donation: $10 To pay for space & facilitation. Noone will be turned away for lack of funds. Just come, and give if you're able. About Beth: Beth has studied and practiced Empowered Compassionate Communication and Mindfulness since 2005, including year-long teacher trainer programs in both modalities.
