- Singles Speak Discussion: Confidence
Let's meet on the 2nd Floor of the Whole Foods Market cafe in Glendale to talk, eat, drink coffee/juice and have an interesting conversation. This will be a great opportunity to share, listen and socialize in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They have a great buffet area if you want breakfast and a coffee/juice bar. Note: This event is posted on multiple meetup groups. If you sign up please show up or be courteous and change your RSVP far enough in advance (At least 3 hours) so people on the waitlist can attend. Stairs are at the northeast corner at the very front of the store. The elevator to the 2nd floor is on the west side of the store under the “Cream of the Crop” sign. Exit the elevator at Level 2 and take a left, then a right at The Wellness Center sign and you will see the tables. We can split into smaller discussion groups if the turnout is large. Topics to be covered: What does it mean to be confident? How do you create more confidence in your life? What is the source of your confidence? A popular quote says: “Confidence is silent, insecurity is loud.” Do you agree? Why or why not? Is it important to you that people accept your point of view? What are some characteristics of someone who is confident? At what times do you feel less confident? When do you feel most confident? When does confidence become arrogance? If you could do one thing to increase your confidence, what would it be? What’s one thing you could let go of to help raise your confidence? What activities cause you to feel most alive? Do you feel that you are mostly owning your life, or that your life is owning you? What helps you remain grounded and connected to yourself? Do you have a strong sense of who you are? What role do others (friends, family, colleagues, partners) play in your confidence?

NEED TO KNOW: Parking: off-site parking a few blocks away so we can save our parking spots for our participants, if group members are able and willing. If not, you may park behind Metro Caring. Entrance: Please enter through the Volunteer and Donation door located on the Southeast side of the building (close to the parking lot). Come into the warehouse on your left and up the stairs on the right. We will meet at the table at the end of the hallway to sign waivers and make name tags before taking a tour of Metro Caring and volunteering. Volunteer Positions: o Sorter (highest need): Our warehouse area is where food and other items are processed from donation deliveries. Volunteers will help inspect, clean, sort and box these items. This area requires an attention to detail. It is a low-impact/physical area, though it does require standing for the shift. Great area for both individuals and groups who want to work together! o Market help (occasional need): Our market area is where participants shop for their groceries. Volunteers here will help ensure our shelves are stocked and that our participants have help getting their average cart weight of 80 lbs out to their car or packed up for their travels homes. Dress: Please dress modestly and in closed-toe shoes or clothing appropriate for a warehouse setting, including shirts with sleeves (short or long) and sneakers or work boots. Donations: Lastly, many groups ask about donations. We are always happy to have peanut butter donated. It is a staple in many households as a great source of protein and lunches for kids. At 5.4 miles, you can go to City Lights Ridge for 360° views of the park. The trail varies from service roads to rocky paths, to smooth singletrack. You'll get a little bit of everything that the park has to offer on this hike. There are paw-print signs marking every trail throughout Golden Gate Canyon (pictured above), so you always know what trail you're on should you take one of the spurs. Please try to use common sense and know your physical limits. Be smart about this. We want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable time. Weather changes quickly and mud can be abundant! Please come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, boots-shoes, hiking poles, microspikes, snowshoes, backpack, snacks, and plenty of water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - rain/snow gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared! Although we get together afterwards at an establishment that typically serves alcohol, we are not responsible for you taking risks with alcohol consumption and driving. People that drive carpools should especially keep this in mind as you are obviously responsible for other people besides yourself and should make sure your insurance covers non-family members.

- Fun at Fate
This is graduation week and it was hard for me to find a venue to host us, but Fate Brewing on 38th Street stepped up and is welcoming us back! Join us after work as we gather to socialize, mingle and unwind at Fate, a well known and popular Boulder brewery and eatery on 38th Street since 2013. Known for being a brewpub, they also feature a full cocktail and wine bar for those not inclined to drink beer, as well as healthy and tasty eats for those hungry after a day of work. As usual, this will be a multi-meetup event with the following groups: 9th Hour Happy Hour Boulder Boulder, Louisville New in Town Laid-back Singles Boulder/Denver We will likely be at the long community table near the bar; although they did say depending on their needs, and the weather, they might put us outside. Either way, just look for a large group and the table-top meetup signs. Expect the usual 30-50 people to attend! Hope to see you there!
