Ride of Silence (Larry G)

Ride of Silence--Arlington Heights This ride will be going on at multiple locations in the Chicago area (and worldwide). This CBG event is ONLY for the Arlington Heights location. If anyone would like to participate at another location, please do NOT RSVP for this. (But feel free to post it at whatever location you are participating at.)  DATE: May 15, 2011 TIME: 7:00 pm WHERE: Hundreds of locations world wide Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. WHY DOES THIS ORGANIZATION EXIST? * To HONOR those who have been injured or killed * To RAISE AWARENESS that we are here * To ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD Ride Type We will be riding on public roads at NO MORE than 12MPH, so any type of bike will do. We will be riding 10 miles. We WILL be silent for the duration (and YES, that includes me--I will have to figure out a way to ride 10 miles without talking.... Duct Tape????) Schedule We will gather at 6:30. The ride starts at 7:00. We are attending this event, not hosting, so there will be NO waiting for latecomers. Location Recreation Park, 500 E Miner St, Arlington Heights. Transportation/Parking There is parking at the park. I imagine that it will fill up, so you might have to look for street parking nearby. Carpool Feel free to arrange carpools amongst yourselves. What They Should Bring Bike (in good working order), Helmet, Extra Inner Tube, Portable Air Pump (or CO2 cartridges), Tire Levers, Sunscreen, Lock (if stopping for lunch), Money (if stopping for lunch), Cell phone (recommended), Photo ID (recommended), Insurance Card (recommended), Munchies / Power Bars / Trail Mix (recommended for any long ride without a break for food.) Waiver / Helmet Rule Each rider will have to sign a waiver for each ride (Waivers are posted in the Files section). All riders must wear a helmet for the duration of the ride. Weather This ride should be going rain or shine.
