This ride will continue year round. All routes are approximately 20 miles in length and our pace will be in the 13 mph range, give-or-take. The route taken will depend upon trail conditions. A bike which can handle crushed stone as well as pavement is recommended. Enjoy a post-ride beverage at Tighthead Brewing Co.

* Please keep your RSVP up-to-date - no one wants to be the only one to show
* Be prompt - this ride leaves at 6 pm; be ready to ride at that time
* Keep the pace in the 13-mph range
* Maintain a line-of-sight on all cyclists - be sure no one is left behind
* Please have your bike equipped with front and rear lights
* Veterans - please welcome and offer assistance to newcomers
This is the usual route and runs the full length of the North Shore Bike Path, a fully paved rail-to-trail from Mundelein to Lake Forest. If you're looking to expand your trail options, this is the trail to check out - it runs parallel to Route 176 and connects to the Des Plaines River and Middlefork Forest Preserve Trails, the Skokie Valley Bikeway, and ends at the Robert McClory Trail.
Bonus: This trail passes within feet of the local Dairy Dream - a nice treat during the summer months near the end of the ride.
As an alternative, take the North Shore Bike Path to the Des Plaines River Trail and then head north, up, through, and around Independence Grove in Libertyville. This is a nice scenic ride, especially at twilight and in the fall. Yes - you still pass the Dairy Dream on the way home! :-)
Same as Route 2, except head south to Old School Forest Preserve "loops".
Travel west on Hawley Street through Mundelein and pick up the Millennium Trail at Mundelein High School; this trail initially parallels the north side of Hawley Street and heads out toward Lakewood Forest Preserve. The beginning of this trail is paved but eventually changes to gravel, sometimes deep.
Meet in the parking lot of Tighthead Brewing Co. Please arrive a few minutes early so you are ready to ride at 6 pm.
To Reach The Trails
Head north through the Metra commuter parking lot, then...
--- North Shore Bike Path
Right on Hawley St > right on Brice Ave > trail immediately on your left.
--- Millennium Trail
