We will sail with Captain Barry on C’est La Vie, 36 ft Catalina. Dock E, Slip 28.
Crew members should bring their own PFD (life vest). For Temporary Guest Members, send a message to the captain asap if you need to borrow one. In addition to the PFD, bring sailing gloves, sun glasses, foul weather jacket (or weather proof jacket), and boat shoes (or non-marring shoes) along with water or soft drink. (Please, no glass containers.) It is always good to bring something to share with others, i.e.: cookies, vegetables, beer, or a dish to pass.
Remember the temperature on the Lake can be much colder than on land, bring several layers of clothing. A sweater, hat and warm gloves are not out of order.
Please remember the captain is responsible and in charge of his or her boat. Listen, observe, ask questions and learn. Ask what you can do to help. You will be physically active and acting as one of the crew on a sail boat, not just going for a boat ride; participate and enjoy the experience.
If you are a dues-paying member, remember that you can bring a guest. Just RSVP that you are doing so. Your guest will need to fill out a temporary guest application. You can have them complete before they come out (see note for non-paid members below). The skipper will have an application on board also.
For non-paid members, we must have your signed Temporary Guest Membership Application on file before you can RSVP for an event. Please click on “What we’re about” on our Meetup website and follow the instructions on “HOW TO SAIL WITH US”. We want you to sail with us!! Once we have your application, you may come out as our temporary guest up to three (3) times. Full paid members are given first chance on making an RSVP for a sail, with any openings left to be filled by temporary members that have turned in their temporary member applications and have not sailed more than three times. Sometime during your first three times you should be invited by a board member to join our club as a paid member so that you can continue sailing with us.
NOTE: Only paid members can invite a guest. If you want someone else to sail with you, please have them go through the process of Joining us on Meetup and they will be sent the link to fill the Temporary Guest Membership application. Once they are approved, they may RSVP for the events.
