What we're about

Meet like-minded people interested in meditation in Lakewood Colorado! Learn how to meditate or deepen your current meditation practice. In this group we emphasize practical meditations that are useful both "on the cushion" and in our daily lives. Each meeting will include guided meditation, and a talk on how to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life, while increasing mental and physical well-being. There will also be plenty of time to discuss the ideas presented. Although the meditations and talks are based on Kadampa Buddhist philosophy, you don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy this group. Kadampa Buddhism stresses a spiritual path of individual transformation and to look within ourselves for the inner peace and happiness we seek. Everyone is welcome!

These meetups are organized by Kadampa Meditation Center Colorado.

Health and our mental well-being are important to our everyday happiness. By cultivating virtuous – or positive – minds – such as love, patience, compassion and wisdom – in meditation, we naturally begin to develop a light, happy mind that experiences worries, mental discomfort and anxiety less and less. Eventually, we will be able to stay happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

### Kadam Lucy James

Our main teacher at KMC Colorado is Kadam Lucy James. One of the senior teachers of Kadampa Buddhism, Kadam Lucy has taught extensively in England, Florida, and San Francisco, and helped set up many thriving meditation centers since 1981. She is regularly invited to teach courses around the United States and Europe due to her skill in presenting both simple and profound subjects with great clarity. For many years, one of her main jobs was to help with the editing and production of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books, and she has engaged in extensive meditation retreat.

The profound tools of transformation within Buddhist meditation give us the ability to become the person we wish to be: More dynamic, confident, kind, loving, peaceful, and happy. In each series of classes, we explore how we can use Buddhist meditation to stay connected to our pure potential. This connection gives us the ability to enjoy a deeply meaningful, rewarding and happy life.

  • Our General Program classes include practical Buddhist teachings along with guided meditations.
  • These classes are suitable for both beginners and more experienced meditation practitioners.
  • The classes are designed as a series, but can also be attended individually.
