Level 4, level 0 Pace - Green Mountain Night Ride

The weather foracasters are calling for a high 66 and a low of 39 for Wednesday, and I've been itchin for some dirt!!! So brush the dust off the lights, charge the batteries, pump up the tires, lube the chain for a 7 mile or so night ride at Green Mountain!

Due to a shift change at my work, I'll be starting at 6:15pm. I don't know the names of the trails, but basically head counterclockwise, up the mountain, circle the top, and head back down.

We'll meet at the upper, PAVED parking lot of the Forsberg/Iron Spring dog park. This a level 4 ride because of the climb and riding in the dark, but I'll be riding at level 0 pace (ok, not level 0, but REAL slow). I have 2-3 extra sets of lights so if anyone is curious about night rides, this would be the one to attend. The ride should last 1 1/2-2 hours.

As with any ride, helmets are mandatory. Be sure to bring water, spare tubes/patches, DUCT TAPE (some will get this, other's won't), bike in good working order, multi tool, BRIGHT lights and charged battery/batteries, and a good attitude.

Even though it will be a gorgeous fall day, the night will still be a bit chilly, especiallly up top, so pants and full finger gloves might be neccasary.

My cell number is[masked] if you need to get in touch...text works best.

Sorry I missed the ride. I didn't have too much spare time and I absolutely could not find the dog park near that address. Hopefully the next ride will go smoother.

For future reference, where IS the park anyway? At the corners of that intersection, I saw a church, a neighborhood, another neighborhood and a hill. So I would guess the park is on the corner with the hill but I didn't see a fenced off area. Do people just park in the church's lot?

The parking lot/dog park is not really by any intersections. It's on alameda maybe 1/2 mile east of c470...green mountain would be right in front of it, to the north. I must have selected the wrong favorite when I created the ride. The parking lot it pretty much invisible at night!

Jason, have your extra lights been spoken for yet?

Awesome, I'll take whatever you recommend.

It's a matter of personal preference. My lights are the older halogen style so I prefer both: one on the helmet and one on the bar. I'll bring it all and we can setup both for you and see which you like best.
