What we're about
We are a new group based in Lancashire for dog owners and dog lovers. Our aim is to offer a selection of regular walks and events offering both dog owners and lovers the opportunity to get together and socialise. Many of our walks will start from popular parks and locations with dog friendly cafes/coffee shops/pubs wherever possible and usually include areas where dogs can be left of the lead.
Our aim is also to offer a variety of meets including walks that go a little bit our the beaten track, making use of lesser known paths and bridleways. We also offer longer, full day hikes in conjunction with our sister Group Lancashire Weekend Walkers.
We have three broad classes of walks:
Wanders: Very short, leisurely walks of 1-2 miles around country parks etc using well defined pathways.
Walks: A little longer, covering a wider area using some footpaths and bridleways. May include the odd stile and sections of unsurfaced paths. Possible fields with livestock where dogs will need to be on a lead.
Hikes: Full walks in the countryside mainly on footpaths and bridleways with multiple stiles possible. Full walking kit recommended ie walking boots, waterproofs etc. Dogs must be on a lead for Hikes.
Of course you don't have to have a dog to join but you must enjoy the company of the dogs and their owners
Polite Note: All dogs are welcome but they must have a friendly and responsible owner who can look after them both on and off the lead at all times. Dogs must not be allowed to cause a nuisance to other dogs, people and traffic and must be on a lead where appropriate ie near livestock and traffic. Lancashire Dog Walkers accepts no responsibility for losses or injuries sustained and walks are taken entirely at owners risk.
