Sunday Morning Meditation & Inspiration

  • Aug 18, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our Sunday morning meditation begins with sitting quietly. A few minutes after 10:00 AM we formally begin with an opening prayer, some simple yoga-style chants and then a 15 to 20 minute period of guided, and silent, meditation. Following the meditation there will be a short inspiring talk, based on scriptural readings of the East and West. We end with a brief healing prayer and song. You can sit yoga-style on the floor or on a chair. All are welcome.

After the huge crowds last weekend when we held the memorial service for Lorne, today there was a small group. The energy was powerful as it always is. As we sat quietly before service began, we were listening to chants by Swami Kriyananda on tape. I love to listen to him. He is a great musician and singer. He sings the Bengali versions effortlessly. I love the devotion in his voice. Finally, I love the way he tries to pronounce even the English words with a Bengali accent. That is how he must have heard Master sing the chants. Wendy's sermon was lovely and she told a story about how she was looking for other talks on today's topic and couldn't find any until she stumbled upon our own website and found Lorne's sermon on this topic which he gave last year. That probably had some of us teary-eyed. The chants on Divine Mother and "Wave of the Sea" were beautiful and took us straight into deep meditation. Later, we hung around and chatted about last week's service and other Lorne stories.
