The Las Cruces Running Group is a free social running group, open to all members of the community to join and attend. Runners of all levels of fitness are encouraged to attend. We host weekly group runs, social activities, and support each other in competitive events.
The purpose of the Las Cruces Running Group is to establish, promote, and maintain an active running community in Las Cruces and the surrounding areas. We do this by providing opportunities for runners of all *ages and abilities to meet their personal fitness goals by conducting group runs, group training sessions and fun, competitive events. Our members support the promotion of running as a healthy habit, and foster a climate of mutual support, goodwill and fellowship.
*Minors must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
A message from our original founder, Allison Gayle:
When I started this group I had a dream and vision of what it would be like to bring together a community of runners to not only support each other and find friends, but how it would affect the overall 'running scene' in Las Cruces and surrounding areas. I believe that because of this group we now see more running events than ever here in LC! I am so proud of how the LCRG has grown and that its members are so involved and supportive. I know that it will continue to grow and thrive because of all of you. You are the most inspiring, dedicated, generous and loving people I have known and I am truly going to miss you.
Below is a quote that says to me everything that the LCRG stands for. Farewell LC runners and friends!!! Thank you all for always being there for me and for each other, and may all your running dreams come true!!!
"Running is not, as it so often seems, only about what you did in your last race or about how many miles you ran last week. It is, in a much more important way, about community, about appreciating all the miles run by other runners, too." --Richard O'Brien
