Mount Humphreys is one of the crown jewels of the Sierras, with a summit elevation just under 14,000' (13,986') and over 2,500' of prominence. PLEASE NOTE: the summit of Mount Humphreys involves class 4 climbing. While most don't need a rope to ascend, a rope is often needed for rappelling on the descent.
The plan is to leave Las Vegas Friday evening, hike in to Humphreys Basin on Saturday (5 miles gaining 2200' on a trail, then 2.5 miles gaining 700' to the campsite), then hike/climb the summit and return on Sunday.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Permits are required. See the comment below for more details on the permits.
Total Distance: 16.5 miles round trip

Terrain Description: Trail then easy class 1-2 to the campsite, class 3 and *4* to the summit
Approximate Hiking Time: 13 hours- 4 hours to camp, 3 hours to ascend summit, 3 hours to descend summit, 3 hours back to trailhead
