We are combining three events into one big celebration!
December 10th is Human Right’s Day – we will be reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 12:00 Noon as a reminder to all of us during this trying time in our Nation’s History that every human has basic rights without exception. HumanLight is a Humanist Holiday traditionally celebrated on December 23. Like Kwanzaa, it is a modern invention, created to provide a specifically Humanist celebration for the northern hemisphere’s winter solstice and within the western world’s holiday season. LFF has decided to transform it’s monthly Humanist Happy Hour into a Humanlight Celebration to honor a positive approach to the coming new year through the lens of secular Humanist Philosophy. This is a family friendly event and great opportunity for children to learn about Universal Human Rights and the good in which humans can achieve by honoring the rights of all people without exception and how secular humanism can bring about the fullest realization of the best we are capable of as human beings. After a nice lunch please stick around for Amnesty Internationals Write for Rights campaign. You can help change the lives of this year’s 12 cases by writing letters. When combined with millions of others, your letters help convince government officials to free prisoners of conscience, support human rights defenders, and end other urgent cases of abuse. Together, we can change lives and change our world.
