For our seventh hike, we'll do an approximately 9-10 mile out and back hike of Bull Run-Occoquan Trail with a stop afterwards at Paradise Springs Winery.
The hike alternately follows along the Run/reservoir and courses in and out of small ridges and stream valleys that take off from the main stream. In spots, there are beautiful stands of hemlocks framing the sparkling waters of the run/reservoir.
If we have enough people, we may also attempt a car shuttle to check out more of the trail, which goes 18 miles in one direction.
Paradise Springs Winery and Vineyard borders Bull Run River and is the closest winery to Washington DC and the first in Fairfax County. Serving as "The Gateway to Virginia Wine Country", the property features an 1800’s log cabin, which was renovated in 1955 by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.
As usual, please bring water and lunch or snacks. I will arrange carpools for the non-drivers.
