Latin@ Techies meets a couple of times a month to work on civic hacking projects on issues affecting Latin@ communities. We usually meet at ChiHackNight, but we'll be rotating to more accessible locations in different neighborhoods.
WHAT IS CHIHACKNIGHT?
ChiHackNight takes place every Tuesday at 6pm at the Braintree offices in Merchandise Mart (8th fl). The night kicks off with bites & mingling followed by introductions, job & event announcements, and a different presentation each week. Then at 7:30pm, the civic hacking begins! Join our working group at the first table in the cafeteria.
**IMPORTANT: ChiHackNight now requires PREREGISTRATION. YOU MUST REGISTER TO GAIN ENTRY: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chi-hack-night-registration-20361601097). WHAT PROJECTS DO YOU WORK ON?
• Puerto Rico Relief website to collect data and do comparison graphs with relief responses to other hurricanes in the U.S.
• MigraMap to crowd-source ICE raids
• Housing Rights website
• Got your own idea for something you want to work on? Or know a Latin@ organization that wants to bounce off ideas on how tech can help them further their cause? Swing by and let's get brainstorming!
DO I HAVE TO BE A CODER?
No. You just have to have an interest in using your skills towards serving your community.

Formed in 2014 as the first Latin@ tech network in Chicago, Latin@ Techies creates community-based events to expose young Latin@s to STEM, connect tech professionals, and, through our civic hacking group and our annual Latin@ Hackathon, leverage tech to tackle critical community issues.
