What we're about

LaunchNJ is a nonprofit that believes that an entrepreneurial mindset can be used to address social needs. We view ourselves as an Incubator for Social Entrepreneurship and a champion of the person behind the great ideas.

Mission: Create a vibrant People Focused Ecosystem so that those who want to achieve and have a positive impact on the world can succeed.

Who LaunchNJ Serves:

We hope to provide value to those who are on a journey of self-improvement. This could be someone who is starting a new business to serve others or looking for a more fulfilling job. The Mass Middle is another area of focus. Most programs are set up for those in serious need or for the star performers. Unfortunately, the Mass Middle is often overlooked so we are trying to fill this void.

Our Approach:

We start by identifying valuable tools which are used in other areas but are rarely applied to societal needs. Two examples are Mentoring and Master Mind groups. Both are used in the business world and by some nonprofits groups that cater to special needs (ex. Big Brothers) but are rarely put to work in the mass population.

The next step is to customize existing programs to meet our member’s needs. We then use the Lean Entrepreneurial approach (assumption testing) to refine and improve our programs. What we learn is made public and we assist others who share our passion for helping people who want to help themselves and help others.

Current Projects & Rational:

We have chosen to initially focus on Mentoring and Master Mind Groups. The rationale:

1. Both are highly impactful

2. They share many similarities which makes implementation easier

3. We believe that we can effectively execute them

Self-Development Master Mind Groups:

These groups will be made up of members who are interested in self-development within a group environment. A facilitator will work with a group member on putting together a presentation (ex. effective networking, mindful meditation) for the group. On regularly scheduled basis meetings will be held to review the information sent so that group learning can occur. The facilitator will help with insight and by making sure that the group doesn’t go too far off into tangents. Online groups will be formed so that further discussions can occur and facilitators will make themselves available to answer questions.

Entrepreneurial Master Mind Group:

This group will be very similar to the Self Development group but will primarily focus on issues that entrepreneurs have to overcome (ex. finding key resources, bootstrapping). A facilitator will work with a group member on putting together a presentation (ex. healthy eating, mindful meditation) for the group. On regularly scheduled basis meetings will be held to review the information sent so that group learning can occur. The facilitator will help with insight and by making sure that the group doesn’t go too far off into tangents. Online groups will be formed so that further discussions can occur and facilitators will make themselves available to answer questions.

Mentoring:

Our Mentoring will closely resemble a streamlined version of Life Coaching and our first program will involve Drew University Juniors and Seniors. The focus will be on preparation for the work world but life skills development will be part of the underlying process. A Master Mind format will be used to maximize learning and resources.

Fee(s):

Our goal is to make these programs self-sustaining so that many can benefit from them. Fees will be charged and the people running the group will be paid. By using the Master Mind format we hope to deliver a high value service at a very reasonable price.

Inclusive Mindset: We realize that we are only one part of the total solution and are always looking for partners who share our passion for helping others.

Important Disclaimer: LaunchNJ is focused on social good but we do not incorporate religious or political views into our decision making.

Vision for what we can become:

• Incubator for “social good” ideas

• Testing center for ideas that help people

• Connector to existing programs that focus on helping people

• Initiator of services or systems which can help people but aren’t common

• A group that helps one deal with life’s challenges

• The Group that specializes in catering to the mass middle’s needs
