What we're about

Welcome everyone!

LGWG was founded in October of 2009 to help Gamers and GMs find each other, to build a network of contacts for gamers in southwest Oklahoma.

When you join you will be asked a series of questions such as when are you available to play, do you GM, can you host, etc. Once you have answered these questions, you will be contacted by one or more members of the group to help you find a group or to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to ask questions at anytime. We’d like to help you find a group you might fit into, whatever your interests. We have members who play D&D / AD&D, Serenity / Firefly, Traveler, Star Wars, Star Trek, World of Darkness, Legend of the Five Rings, HERO System, GURPS, Call of Cthulhu, Car Wars, Mech Warrior, Space 1889, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gamma World, Boot Hill, as well as various Wargames and LARP games. We have games currently running, many with openings, and people looking to put games together, maybe games you’d be interested in?

Between the City of Lawton, Fort Sill, Cameron University, Duncan, Altus, Chickasha, Walters, and surrounding areas of Southwest Oklahoma we should be able to accommodate everybody (and I bet there are more people than you think out there); so once again, welcome!

- Karl

Dresden Files LARP: Seattle, 1998

Kevin Letherwood's House

The Dresden Files RPG is based on Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files Series and brief TV series http://www.hulu.com/watch/25757#i0,p0,d0 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dresden_Files This game is what I might call "LARP-lite" in that the game is set in Seattle, 1998, at the end of the grunge music scene, so costuming is most often street clothing. It is not a boffer-LARP, so no one is running around hitting each other with foam swords or nerf guns. The group has a "no touching" rule to keep everyone safe and comfortable. So, if you've never been to a LARP, this is the "shallow end of the pool." Jump in and check us out. I think you'll have fun. Players may be aligned with: - White Court Vampires: They feed off of strong emotion. House Raith (who feed off of lust) and House Malvora (who feed off of fear) are the dominant houses in the Seattle area. - White Council of Wizards: In theory, all spell casters belong to the council, but it is the wizards who hold the power, both in the council and in the world at large. - Council of the 18 Tribes: These tribes have lived on very active lay lines for many millennia and over time certain members of the tribes have manifest powers associated with their spirit animals including shapeshifting or whose shamans have learned to cast actual spells. - Mortals: While most mortals are blissfully unaware of what is really going on, some are clued in to events and have vowed to do something about it. Some rely on weapons and technology to defeat the supernatural creatures who threaten Seattle, while the Catholic Church supports a couple of organizations who hunt evil or who help and support the victims of supernatural evil. Those in the know are aware that in the year 666AD, forces of darkness attempted to rise up, enslave humanity, and defeat God. That didn’t go so well for the forces of darkness. 666 years later they tried again in 1332. This fight was much closer with Europe alone losing 30% to 60% of its population. The aftermath of the terrible supernatural battles of this time was blamed on flea infested rats, but most mortals fail to understand the real nature of the plague that swept the world during that time. Now, 666 years later, those in the know are preparing for the worst as cosmic forces align once again to allow the forces of darkness to once again sweep through the barriers separating the dimensions. One of the weak points in the barrier just happens to lie beneath the Lodge of the Council of the 18 Tribes. 1998 promises to be a busy year in Seattle. The world needs heroes now, more than ever, and as usual, the pay sucks and thanks for a job well done is non-existent, but someone has to do it. The game starts at 6pm and runs until midnight. Pre-generated characters will be available for new players to jump right in with. More information can be found at: http://reddirtroleplayers.weebly.com/ Please join us? Thanks.
