Hi Lady Coders,
A big thank you to everyone who came to join in on the celebratory nerdery last night! We had good chats about the Closure, Data Science, and the (infamous?) JVM. I saw a ton of new faces, and am so glad to see more and more women getting bitten by the code bug. (It's a totally friendly bug... though a bit obsessive, but we love it all the more for that.)
Come share your summer project, start learning new things or building something exciting for the fall, and enjoy the company of fellow geeky ladies at our next meetup on Tuesday, August 27th at 7pm:. We're breaking our Wednesday routine this month, so for those with persistent Wednesday conflicts this Tuesday is for you! (RSVPs have been filling up quickly as of late, so make sure to reserve your spot/outlet/cupcake/all-the-cupcakes.)

  • PyLadies: Topic Generation Workshop for PyCon proposals. (Aug. 22) - There will be pair interviews and group discussions to help refine ideas for each participant's PyCon (or other technical conference) talk proposal. Non-python developers welcome! More info can be found here:
  • PyLadies: Hack/Demo Night. (Aug. 29) - They're looking for more ladies to demo what they're working on so people can show works in progress and give and get feedback:
  • NYC Ruby Women - Keep an eye on their meetup page for upcoming events:
  • Hacker School is accepting applications! Tuition is *free* for all students, and they provide $5k, need-based grants for women for living expenses. Apply here:

Until next time, Happy Hacking!
