LIA Spiral - India, Nepal and Srilanka (LIA-INS)

Online event

Inviting all Women in Agile Profession to Join our Spiral

Event Date is Saturday at 8:00 AM EST (New York time) which is Saturday 5:30 PM IST (Colombo/SriLanka, New Delhi/India) and 5:45 PM (Kathmandu, Nepal) time. Please note this event is for women only.

LeanInAgile (LIA) is a community service organization, founded by Leila Rao and Padmini Nidumolu, to increase the value and visibility of women within the Lean and Agile communities. The hallmark of Agile servant leadership is based on stereotypically feminine attributes such as empathy, collaboration, effective listening yet there is a significant gap in the number, recognition and compensation of women at the higher levels of Agile leadership.

LIA works to narrow this gap by empowering women to celebrate, learn and grow together through initiatives such as spirals, LIA100 and LIANextGen. We believe that an actively inclusive and diverse community will generate better outcomes for us all and help to realize Agile values and mindset in our workforces and in our communities.

NYC Lean In Agile Spiral: Lean Coffee and Networking session

October's Hot Topic - For the October NYC Spiral, Kathy Ziet and Leila Rao will co-facilitate a "Lean Coffee" and 1 to 1 networking session. The theme of the evening will be "Risk Taking: Personal and Professional". Using Trello, we will create topics we want to discuss with the group related to careers, work issues, tech questions, skill building, anything that is on your mind! Then, as a team, we will vote and prioritize the topics and start a 5 minute discussion on each of the issues. It is a great technique to learn about and everyone has a voice to get their issue on the table. Bring 2 - 3 topics you would like the group to discuss. This will be very interactive, so be ready to join in!

6:30pm - 7:00pm - HOT Topic! Facilitation and Group discussion
7:00pm - 8:00pm - Networking/selecting next topic & facilitator

Please register via Meetup (2 step process: 1. Signup in Meetup and use the ZOOM link below to access the meeting!)

Lean In Agile supports women who want to grow their careers and network while learning new/Agile approaches to working and creating value. LIA Spirals help connect women in technology/Agile with each other while building skills in a supportive environment. You will have the chance to meet other interesting, dynamic and smart women in business and tech!

Spirals are the heart of Lean In Agile since they serve as a mechanism for how we will deliver on our vision of helping women to learn, grow and succeed together.

A spiral is a geographically connected group of women in the Lean and Agile community that have come together to learn from and support each other. We use the metaphor of a spiral to indicate the bonds that connect women together, with the open end of the spiral to indicate the invitation is always open for the next woman to join in.

Spirals differs from a typical meet-up in that there are not a stand alone or isolated monthly event. In addition, whereas meetups operate generally with one “expert” voice speaking to many, spirals are more of a peer learning and sharing group where we recognize the multi-dimensionality of women's ability beyond just their Agile expertise.

Through spirals, with its series of facilitated, structured activities, women learn to continually re-discover and value the full nature of their expertise and potential as well as experience behavior-changing techniques to ask for help, to offer help, to take risks, to share their knowledge and to increase confidence.

In sum, spirals are a support structure enabling individual women to advance professionally and personally by leaning in to and on each other. The ongoing and mutually reinforcing nature of spirals serves as a catalyst for empowerment and a medium for sustainable community engagement.

The regional spirals are then linked together (using the Team You and other bridges) to shape a powerful, global community of empowered women.

Why should you be part of Spiral? If you are a woman agilist, techie, business or lean practitioner and ...
• Want to take the next step in your career
• Seek a coach or mentor who can appreciate and support the challenges you might have as a woman working in this rapidly evolving space
• Be part of a wider network of women, some of whom will form your personal “Team You”
• Want to empower and support other women in achieving their goals
• Want to be heard, acknowledged and supported by an incredible group of women
Let me know if you are interested in learning more….there is no fee for the meetings.
Best Regards,
Kathy
