RE: [Lean-Startup-Circle-Boston] Invitation: The New England Venture Summit

a. If you look into it, Unless they removed it, meetup organizers can and SHOULD changing settings so that any member posting for group distribution needs organizers approval.

b. member themselves not wanting to receive emails need to go into their account and this meetup group and change their settings so they only get the emails and messages they wish, this is an option for all the groups you belong too btw.

The New England Venture Summit is a terrible deal for startups. As an angel investor, I would NEVER expect a startup to 'pay to pitch' and would NEVER participate in an event that required it. There are more than enough events around town that provide ample networking opportunity.

You may also notice that Dan Rose created a new member profile this morning just to send out his spam notice ( compare his member profile link in his initial email to the member profile link in his last email ). The Dan Rose profile used to send the initial email no longer exists. I'm not sure if it was removed by the LSC organizers or if Dan Rose deleted this himself. Either way, creating a profile to send a one-time spam message is poor form, Dan.

P.S. Apollo, I believe this is an open list, so any member of the LSC meetup can email the list directly. Its not clear that the LSC Boston organizers have endorsed this guy at all.

Hi Ryan, Subs and Apollo,

We really appreciate that you took the time to provide feedback, however keep in mind that we do have hundreds of satisfied customers who find networking thru our conferences extremely beneficial towards their goal of obtaining funding. As you probably know that only a small percentage of startups are successful in getting the funding they deserve. Getting the visibility of tens of top tier VCs in one day is extremely valuable. The fees we charge are largely subsidized by our generous sponsors compared to the work that goes into producing such a conference. We strongly urge you to try this kind of networking and see the results for yourselves. We value our innovators and to that end we are offering a deeply discounted price until Oct 30th.

Regards,

Dan

Better off copying the list of VC's listed above, vetting the relevant ones, and finding intros through your networks.

A little money is fine, but like $500 , give us startups a break man. We are small , but we arent idiots.
