Salaries and demand for programmers continue to rise. We are, undoubtedly, “amid the rise of the developer." And the Bureau of Labor Statistics says that by 2020, the U.S. will have more programming jobs than programmers.
So how can you take advantage of that trend and jump into such an in-demand field? For years, the only people who had access to these tech jobs were degree holders or geniuses. But things have changed. In fact, in many cases, just because you have a Computer Science degree doesn’t mean that you’re job-ready.
Jason Humphrey knows this first-hand.
After graduating with a Computer Science degree from Marietta College in 2013, Jason accepted an invitation to Fidelity Investments' post-grad program for technical talent. Throughout the program, he realized again and again that he was far behind the skills of his peers. This came to a head when he failed a remedial Java course -- twice.
We asked Jason Humphrey to talk about his journey — both his mistakes and how he turned those into successes. His dynamic journey gives him a perspective that empowers would-be and new developers to succeed. And he’s an incredible source of knowledge on the future of the field, how to excel, and how to get started.
Join us for an opportunity to learn Jason’s story, with plenty of time for Q&A.
Is a Principal Software Engineer at Fidelity and the founder of Coding Career Fast Lane helping developers achieve success through all stages of their career. You can also find him on YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
