MEET UP TIME
9.45am to ride at 10.00am
LOCATION OF MEETUP
Meet in the layby on the B6270, about 150 yards after the small Church in the village of Low Row (when heading west from Reeth towards Gunnerside). Use postcode DL11 6NA for Sat. Nav. to get to the centre of the village and then look for Church on right hand side whilst driving through.
A challenging ride, both in fitness and technical ability. It starts on the road and soon requires a steep climb up to Surrender Bridge. The route then continues off-road to climb more gradually up to the lunar type landscape of Great Pinseat for the start of the first descent through the old mine workings and building ruins. The second climb up onto Melbeck Moor provides more of the same terrain and scenery before a singletrack descent along Gunnerside Gill, with smooth flowing sections interspersed with rocks and water splashes. The ride continues along the side of the Gill, with various ups and downs mainly on smooth, grassy trails as it heads towards the final descent. Starting off smooth, fast and flowing, the descent then hits rock gardens and gnarly singletrack bridleway as it makes it's way down into Gunnerside village. A short section of undulating road then returns to Low Row village.
