  • This holiday can be booked on a group or individual basis. As a group you have much more control of what activities and trekking routes are covered. We sit and discuss and work out the best itinerary to suite your group, prior to you coming out to Bulgaria, and we can often makes changes to this itinerary. Often with groups we offer splinter groups for peak bagging. Maybe you fancy an afternoon or a day in the mineral hot pools, horse riding, white water rafting, lets discuss this and see how we can best fit this into your groups itinerary. As always we suggest you go have a look at our website www.pirinadventures.com for a more in-depth read on who we are and what we offer. We are only a phone call or email away if you have few burning questions.
Our holidays are aimed at giving you a holiday that means you go out and enjoy your trekking days without the hassle of considering transport, food, accommodation and time co-ordination and organisation. Pirin Adventures takes care of the hassle of language, booking huts, pick ups, food issues, we do these things for you so you can enjoy your time in these splendid mountains and country.
Our menu is based on a mix of Farm housing style and Bulgarian Menu, with a vegetarian option.... and yes we are aware that meat eaters often want to try the veggie dishes too :-) so we make more 
Accommodation in Bansko is in our luxury Apartments, or we book you into the mountain huts, explaining all there nuances such as cold water showers or limited menus to which is the best hut with on-suite bathrooms.
Those of you who have met me on the Leeds Meetup walks hopefully know I am more than happy to chat about what we do and put a face to Pirin Adventures and answer as many questions as possible.
Intermediate weeks are generally 8-15 miles walking with some steep ascents and descents. These are normally full days with light to mid weight sacks (10-15 kilos) often with some overnight stays in the Mountain Huts. There is normally a rest day mid-way through your holiday, where you can relax or do an alternative excursion. Fitness level - if you walk three or more times a week on a regular basis, for about 2-6 hours with ascents and descents and some of these been weekends away in the mountains such as the Lakes, Wales or Scotland, you should find you are able to achieve the pace of this holiday. Please see our section on walking ability by clicking this link or choose the Documents tab.
Below is an EXAMPLE OF AN INTERMEDIATE WEEK ITINERARY.

Hiking in the Majestic Pirin mountains and visiting the wine village of Melnik

    Day 1
Pick up from Sofia Airport, with a complimentary drink awaiting your arrival. Driven to Base Camp Pirin where you can relax and get to know your fellow travellers over dinner. Group Meeting to explain the week ahead, then a good night’s sleep.

    Day 2 (10-15 miles)
Breakfast, group meeting, full day walking roughly 10-15 mile hike with a day sack and packed lunch, heading towards the lovely village of Melnik where you can stroll around and visit the Rozhan monastery and have a leisurely beer in a local Mehana. Transport to take you back to Pirin in time for a drink before a 3 course Dinner and shower. Pack your kit for the next 2 day hike then lights out for a good night’s sleep.

    Day 3 (12 miles)
Breakfast at 8am, ready for 9am prompt start time for the 2 day hike with a full sack generally around 15-20 kilos, taking sleeping bags and pack lunch for 2 days, reaching the hut for about late afternoon, 8 hours walking, where we will have dinner and a wash and bed. Because we stay in the huts your rucksacks should be lighter in weight, esp as the huts provide blankets and dinner.

    Day 4 (12 miles)
Continue with the hike till we reach Bansko, where we have dinner and showers in our well-equipped apartments followed by a good night’s rest. If you are hydrated enough have relaxing steam or sauna in the communal gym area downstairs before dinner. All your baggage that you packed from Pirin will be waiting for you at the Bansko apartments.

    Day 5
Rest day, spent visiting the local town of Bansko, or a day trip to Gotse Delchev for a spot of shopping - dinner out in Bansko at a traditional restaurant

    Day 6 (14 miles)
Drive to Gotse Delchev Hut, chair lift up to Pirin mountains to Besbog Hut, Trek over Besbog and Polezan peaks and some stupendous views; onto spectacular lakes including a chance to have a dip in one of the hot springs, before heading onto Denyanitsa Hut for dinner and an over night stay.

    Day 7 (5 miles)
Continue North following the tributaries of the Glazne River, descending into deciduous forests of silver birch, walnut and oak trees, before hitting the streets of Bansko for a hot shower and sauna followed by a heart-warming dinner, then pack for the return journey back to Sofia. If you fancy a night out in Bansko there are many fashionable bars and a few good night clubs for the revellers amongst you.... that includes me!

    Day 8
Return to Sofia, with sightseeing if possible before catching the flight home, where you can plan for you next trip to Bulgaria
