Leesburg Ukulele & Guitar Club

Leesburg Center for the Arts

The club will provide a welcoming space for ukulele (and guitar) players to have fun playing with others. In time we will perform at various community events and other venues. We welcome players of all ages who have playing experience at the advanced beginner level and above. And, yes, we will sing! We’ll play various types of music from traditional to contemporary, ranging from the 20s/30s/40s to present. Feel free to visit a time or two before deciding if you’d like to join. You may become a member of the L.U.C. by purchasing an individual membership with the Leesburg Center for Arts for $30/year. Bring your ukulele and music stand.

Adult Sewing with Margaret Everson

Having fun with sewing! Getting to know your sewing machine and learn to sew on a machine. The class will go over some important parts of sewing; patterns, materials, needles, etc. How about making this a mom and daughter time (8yrs up)? List of supplies: Scissors (one that have only been used for fabric) Measuring tape 1 yard of cotton material (or recycle and old garment for material) Thread (white or to match material) Straight pins (ones with beaded tops) Drop us a line to let us know your are planning on attending. 1st Wednesday of the month ART LOUNGE has an emphasis on CREATING in an urban open studio while having the opportunity to share your work on stage. THE HOUSE LIGHTS WILL BE UP SO WE CAN MAKE ART SEPARATELY OR TOGETHER. THE STAGE IS OPEN TO PERFORM BUT DON'T EXPECT QUIET AND ALL EYES AND EARS UPON YOU. (If you are shy and want to practice or jam on a stage it is a good opportunity. If you require attention then 3rd Wednesday ART LOUNGE (SHARE) is more suited.) ************ Get pumped by the music and experience an Urban Open Studio Vibe. OPEN STUDIO - ART CREATE Enjoy our co-create space. Connect with others. Try something new using the art supplies set out in the lounge area or bring something you are working on. Feel inspired in the artistic environment. OPEN STAGE - ART SHARE Share your music, dance or sing, perform clean comedy, show off multimedia, have a jam session. EnviroArt Trail Walks Special Program for May 2019 Thursdays @ 5:30 PM - Meet at the Park/Preserve "Fresh Air and An Artful Eye" Join Patt Gilmore, Environmental Artist, for an after work trail walk. (See schedule below). The aim is to familiarize people with the nature preserves in the Leesburg area and to introduce Lake County to environmental art. The trail walks are slow meanderings where people can meet and chat, build community and learn about the elements that go into creating earth art. May 2nd Bourlay Historic Nature Park 851 N Canal St. May 9th Sabal Bluff Preserve[masked] Leesburg Mobile Rd. May 16th Flat Island Preserve 2388 Owens Rd. May 23rd Bourlay Historic Nature Park 851 N Canal St. May 30th Flat Island Preserve 2388 Owens Rd. The program is free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring play clothes to work and change, then meet at the main parking area of the park/preserve. Make sure to have water and bug repellent and wear comfortable shoes. Trousers suggested.
