What we're about

Would you like to help others in your community who are struggling each day simply to have enough food to eat or to have a safe place to sleep for the night? If so, Lehigh Valley People Helping People Meetup welcomes you! As a bonus you will get to meet like minded people for possible friendship or relationships...

We volunteer one day each month (2-4 hours) in an organized activity helping our fellow community members who are less fortunate. All of the organization is taken care of by the group, you just show up and help out.

Common service projects may include preparing and donating meals or desserts to local food banks or rescue missions.
Volunteering at area rescue missions, food banks, soup kitchens, serving food, decorating dining facilities, providing instrumental music, organizing supplies, providing administrative assistance, etc. Join us for friendship, fellowship, and most importantly, to make a positive difference by helping others who are less fortunate.

Feed the Children- Weeknight Box Brigade

47 S Commerce Way

Everyone needs to sign up at https://feedthechildren.volunteerhub.com/ -It's quick and easy :) Short version of what they are looking for is "Volunteers will be working assembly line style to pack boxes for children and families in need." -sounds like fun :) More info on their website when you sign up. Website had about 14 spots now-not sure how fast that fills up- I will monitor their website as people sign up. I'm putting a limit of 7 people for now although that could change either way depending on response and how fast they fill up their spots. On their website as of now I saw only 3 more opportunities this year in the 5-8 p.m. time slot- looks like they are pretty much done for the year after these. One around Christmas, one around Thanksgiving and one Thurs Oct 22nd. I will post the Christmas and Thanksgiving shortly- the other one( Oct 22nd) too close in time and not many slots left on their website-feel free to sign up on link above on their website if you'd like. Sorry for missing that opportunity- I was waiting to find out how our first one went before I set up any more. We've done this event once, although I didn't make it-sounds like went good and was fun : )-I found it on https://www.volunteermatch.org/ -my cell is[masked] to get me-feel free to txt or call -good to use if at event also : ) Look forward to seeing you ! ...Thanks Jim Sardella

Helping at the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank

534 W Chew St

This is a new event and one that is scheduled during the day. We will be packing food supplies for the clients to pick up the next day. This food bank serves up to 80 families, although usually the number is somewhere between 20-50. They supply food to those in need four times a week and because of Covid they are allowing families to pick up twice a month now. We will not be interacting with the people but setting up the food for Monday's food bank delivery. It can take from 2-2.5 hours to do. Please wear a mask. Gloves I believe will be provided If you can't make the event, but would like to donate food, they accept canned vegetables, boxed macaroni and individual rice packets. You can give me the donations (I live in Allentown) or drop at the food bank. They are there Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9-1:00p.m.
