In this workshop we'll read your work and give you constructive suggestions to strengthen it. From larger structural and character considerations to minor formatting and story bumps, we'll help you make your script tighter, evocative, and more compelling. Please bring at least four copies of ONE of the following: 1. Ten pages of an original feature screenplay/pilot (or a ten or less-page short film) that you wrote yourself. 2. A treatment that you wrote yourself (one to two-page synopsis of the plot) for a proposed original screenplay/pilot. Please keep treatments to two pages maximum. If you haven't written a script or treatment, then come with your questions and a willingness to provide constructive feedback for others. In this first of a series of informal screenplay talks, screenwriter/professor Jared M. Gordon will discuss screenplay structure from the ground up and how to write an outline from which you can build a new script or rewrite an existing draft. Jared's students have placed in Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship (sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), the Austin Film Festival Screenplay and Teleplay Competition, and Final Draft Big Break. $20 for the session.
