Have you started an entrepreneurial project in the past? Has it been inactive for a very long time? Bring the ‘dead’ domain name at Incubate and donate it to a new time that is willing to work on the project.
This is a fun project more than anything else. It’s an exercise in generating ideas and pivoting within a universe that’s deliberately somewhat constrained by the domain names on offer. The domain owners have to make their domains available to the successful team, but in that event they are rewarded by being an ‘investor’ in the project (equity or cash or any other agreement that will be made).
All the lean toolset comes into play.
The project is completed in a series of three evenings. The first evening is open to all individuals and teams. The second evening is open to all as individuals and teams (so some will be, or have spawned from evening one, some will be new). The third evening is invitation only for teams that completed the second evening.
1. People with a dead domain (url name) willing to donate it to a winning team put them into a hat
2. Teams are formed
3. The teams pick a domain and decide whether they would aim (in an hour!) to create a pitch, a prototype, a plan or a (landing) page. Teams who weren’t inspired by their domain got a chance to swap
4. They spent a few hours working over three evenings…
5. …and then we crowd-vote
All of the teams present their work, and there is a winner. The event is free and all is welcome at Incubate! Jeremy Parsons, who also had the idea, will be our kind host! The event will be held over three days, 30th September, 14th October and 28th October, from 18:30-21:30 in the evenings.
