Feeding America Warehouse

  • This location is shown only to members

As a food bank, Feeding America Tampa Bay is a resource to 600 approved charities that run some type of feeding program.  These include soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters, and Kids Cafe sites.

This agency partner network is a very efficient way to get food to those in need according to need, and it is their primary means of distributing food.

How we will LEND A HAND

We will assist at their warehouse by helping sort through perishable and non-perishable food donations, stock and maintain the pantry/shopping area, pack bags of groceries for individuals in need, and assist with any special projects that may come up.

Much of the warehouse is air-conditioned, but not all of it (but it's still pretty cool).

All volunteers - Please read the Feeding America volunteer form for more specifics about the event:

9am - Noon - Meet at the front desk 10 minutes early to meet each other and sign in with the organization and our event host.

What to bring:

• Please wear casual, comfortable, conservative clothes (no short shorts or tank tops) and closed-toed shoes

• If this is your first time volunteering with them, please print, sign, and bring the Feeding America volunteer form linked above (or you can get one there if you have trouble printing).

• A warm smile!

• If you would like to donate more than your time, please feel free to bring a food donation

Directions and Parking:

Click the link in the location above to see a map to the event location. Go to Building #6, in the back, then go to the far end of that building. Parking spaces are located in front of the building. Make sure to park on Feeding America Tampa Bay’s side of the parking lot.

Other Important Information:

If you are bringing a guest, please provide his/her name along with your RSVP.

This is a child-friendly event for children 10 years and older. You must monitor your child at all times, and be fully responsible for them. Please note if you will bring a child (and child's age) along with your RSVP.

Additional information about Lend a Hand events, such as RSVPing, bringing guests, waiting lists, and last-minute dropouts is located on the 'About' page, please familiarize yourself with our current policies and procedures:

Join us and open your heart to LEND A HAND!

Please consider this seriously before you RSVP, it is very important that we have an accurate count a couple of days in advance to provide to the organization. Last-minute drop-outs are difficult to replace and reflect badly on our organization.

Is this Meetup full?

Just click 'Notify me' and you will be notified if a spot opens up. This will help us fill spots that open up due to late dropouts!

Thanks very much to all of you for volunteering today! It was great to meet and work with each of you, and I hope that you each had a great time helping out Feeding America. With a tough economy, Feeding America hasn't had as many volunteers, and they greatly appreciated our support. Thanks again for your time and effort today. I hope you'll consider volunteering again at future Feeding America events.

I will a couple of kids too...bring my niece & nephew 10 & 12. :-) Let me know if there is any issue bringing them. I couldn't add 2 people to my RSVP for some reason.

That's fine Gregoria. The RSVPs are full, that's why. They can always use help!

Tim, is it ok if I bring my 11 year old daughter? Thanks.

It will be fine to bring your daughter, Mon'te. Lots of kids have helped out with Feeding America at prior events!
