Edgewood Park

Hike Leader: Cathy

Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve near Redwood City is famous for its magnificent display of wildflowers each spring. The Park's 467 acres contains a mixture of woodlands and grasslands. We will hike a 4.1 mile loop with ~400 feet elevation gain on the Edgewood, Franciscan, Ridgeview, Live Oak, and Sylvan trails. Bring a lunch, sun protection, and warm layers if it’s a chilly day. Dogs are not allowed in this natural preserve.

Meet at the Edgewood Park-n-Ride lot for a very short drive to the park (the parking is limited at the trailhead so its better if we leave most cars in the park-n-ride lot).

Getting there:

• From 280, take the Edgewood Road exit.
• From SF, go left under the freeway. From San Jose, turn right at the end of the ramp.
• The park-n-ride lot will be on the left.

What a fun mellow day we had at Edgewood. Hope it was to everyone's liking. We saw plenty of wild flowers and had a nice lunch on the ridge top.

    A Park N' Ride question:

If I am heading south on 280 from SF toward EdgwoodPark and turn off at the exit for Edgewood park, where will I find the Park N' Ride? Will it be on the right or left hand side of the road? Will it be located at some spot before the park or past the park? Is it very obvious and difficult for one to miss the location of it?

    Thanks

It will be on the left side of Edgewood Road. It will be before you get to the Edgewood Park main entrance. At the end of the 280 south ramp, you will turn left and go under the freeway. The park-n-ride will be on your left.

There's a slight possibility that I may not be able to make it or else I might have to leave the hike early due to a prior commitment that I'll try to rearrange. Hope to be able to join ya'll.
