A backpacking / hiking and camping group for those desiring less intensive or beginner and beginner plus level experiences. Are you a beginner? A bit below your best fitness level? A few years past your prime? Not sure you want to invest thousands of dollars on specialty gear yet? Knees or back a little creaky? Let's meet and plan some lower intensity trips. We can get in shape and become more experienced, and have fun together instead of training alone and or missing out because we are not quite ready for, or don't desire more strenuous trips. This group will plan shorter distance trips, expect to keep a slower pace and to take more frequent rests. Some trips would include a combination of car camping and taking hikes with day packs (or a full backpack to condition yourself), while others would be short backpack trips. Part day hikes on scenic trails will give opportunities for those with tight schedules and serve as exercise and conditioning opportunities for others. Backpacking skills and gear demonstrations could be integrated or separate events could be scheduled if there is sufficient interest.
