I’ve tirelessly searched for groups, classes, etc. about racism in Sacramento, one of the most diverse cities in the country, and I keep coming up short!
So I created this group for anyone interested in reading, learning about, discussing and unpacking systemic racism and looking at why white people dont see it. I would like this group to be a learning experience as well as an open and honest dialogue about the world we live in, what it means, and what we can do.
The first books I would like to read is “White Fragility” by Robin DiAngelo
After that we can come up with a short list and vote as a group.
I would like to try to meet every other week to start and then get the pulse of the group going forward after that.
This is a safe space and I welcome differing opinions and open dialogue. That said, if someone crosses over into statements or content that I deem hateful toward any group I will delete the comments and ban you from the group. Thanks for making this a place where we can all learn and grow together.
