Hike: Wilder Woodcutter's & Chinquapin Trails - Bring lunch

Level of difficulty: 5.7 miles, 450 feet gain. In the beginning there is a 1.8 mile stretch of steady moderate uphill climb. After that the trail is mostly flat. We'll stop for lunch at the picnic tables at Eucalyptus Grove, before turning back.

Exposure: Half sun / half shade

Trail Conditions: Wide and pretty well maintained. Ticks abound!

What to Bring: water, lunch, hat, sunscreen, tick repellent .

Description: We will start the hike at Woodcutter's trail, which is mixed shade and sun. After 1.8 miles up a grade we will take the mostly flat, mostly sunny Chinquapin Trail, and continue on to the picnic tables at the top of the Eucalyptus Loop. There we will stop for lunch at the picnic tables, and, weather permitting, a view of the coast. We will return the same way we came.

Dogs: Sorry, dogs are not allowed on our trail route.

Carpool: Parking is extremely limited on Smith Grade. Please meet at the Gateway Parking Lot for carpooling. We will park on Smith Grade Road near the trail head.

Please Note: This is an at-risk activity and by agreeing to attend, you agree to hold the organizer and other members harmless. You are responsible for your own safety on this hike.
