Level of Difficulty: 6.4 miles, with about 800 ft elevation gain, with a pretty good stretch of moderate uphill in the beginning.
Trail Conditions: Trails are mostly sunny fire roads with some narrow paths. There are ticks and poison oak in Wilder.
Duration: About 3.5-4 hours, including carpool to/from the park and lunch or snack stop at the overlook picnic bench.
What to bring: water, lunch or snack, sun protection, tick repellant.
Hike Description: We will see beautiful views of coast chaparral and the Monterey Bay from the hills above the Wilder coast. We will start at the official Wilder parking lot, pass through the tunnel near the old farm buildings, proceed up Wilder Ridge Loop and Twin Oaks Trails. We'll stop at the Overlook picnic bench for snack or lunch before returning via Wilder Ridge Loop.
Carpool: from the Gateway Parking Lot. Please bring a State Parks pass if you have one. We will leave Gateway promptly at 10:40 If you want to meet us at the official Wilder lot or at the tunnel, please say so in your RSVP. We probably won't get to the parking lot before 10:50, or to the tunnel before 11:00.
