Blues Jam Night at the Levine School of Music is an opportunity for instrumentalists of all skill levels to deepen their appreciation for and knowledge of blues music. Facilitated by Levine guitar instructor Gary Prince, and assisted by Levine instructors Matthew Dievendorf and Andrew Hare, this event is two hours long and roughly divided into a class (7-8 pm) and a jam (8-9 pm). The class portion of the evening will focus on learning and reviewing all the materials necessary to participate in a blues jam: the blues form, blues scale, simple bass lines, chords, patterns, beginnings, endings, and licks. All skill levels are welcome, and even advanced players are encouraged to attend the class and take the opportunity to refresh their knowledge. These concepts are then applied in the context of a coached jam session with a drums, bass and electric guitar - everyone will have the opportunity to solo and play accompaniment. All instruments are welcome - acoustic or electric guitar/bass are equally ok. Come ready to learn, have fun, and jam!
